Educational Programs
The Sierra Club engages in several charitable, education projects in Minnesota. These projects are supported with funding from The Sierra Club Foundation, a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit. Individuals can make tax-deductible contributions to The Sierra Club Foundation to support these educational activities in Minnesota. Workplace giving contributions made through the Minnesota Environmental Fund also support these educational projects.
- Green Space/Smart Growth Organizing Project - This program provides education and support to local community groups who are working to build demand for protection of open spaces that are threatened by poorly planned, sprawling development patterns.
- Clean Air Project - This program works with citizens and students to educate Minnesotans about threats to the quality of the air in our state, and to build demand for better air quality.
- Forest Protection Project - This program educates Minnesotans about threats to publicly owned forest land in Minnesota. The program sponsors outdoor activities, develops policy alternatives, and encourages Minnesotans to communicate with the U.S. Forest Service and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to learn about how these forests are managed.
