NO MERCURY ON THE DINNER PLATE
The Bush Administration has announced a rule that will allow more mercury pollution from power plants than the Clean Air Act allows! The public comment period is now open on this rule, so you can add your voice by attending a community mercury hearing in St. Paul next Monday. Join other citizens testifying for up to 3 minutes on how you feel about mercury pollution and the Bush Administration's weakening of clean air standards. Mark your calendar for March 22 at 6pm at the MLK Center, 270 N. Kent St., St. Paul. For more info: http://northstar.sierraclub.org/campaigns/air/mercury or call Michelle or Matt at 612-659-9124. If you can't make the hearing then send your comment via Sierra Club's Action Alert http://northstar.sierraclubaction.org/showalert.asp?aaid=527
MEET YOUR NEIGHBORS
Sierra Club members and activists are organizing town meetings, neighborhood walks, phone banks, doorknocks, coffee chats and other events to encourage people to start talking about the Bush Administration's efforts to roll back cornerstone environmental protections. Join your neighbors. Do you want to organize a house party or neighborhood event? Drop us a note at .

PROTECT SUPERIOR AND CHIPPEWA NATIONAL FORESTS FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
The plans for these forests are being updated and the draft plans
are very disappointing - no additions to wilderness, no old growth
preserves, more ATV trails and lots of clear-cuts. While Sierra
Club already submitted detailed comments, letters from our elected
officials to the Regional Forester responsible for these forests
will help improve the final plans. We need clear, strong letters to
give our representatives courage to stand up to the timber industry.
