YOU CAN HELP MINNESOTA'S WOLVES — LAST CHANCE TO SEND COMMENTS TO FEDS!
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) announced in July that it will seek to remove the eastern gray wolf from Endangered Species list and turn management of the wolves over to the states where they live. Minnesota's wolves have thrived under federal protection and this ought to have signaled a victory of the Endangered Species Act. You can submit public input before November 18. http://northstar.sierraclub.org/campaigns/wolves/index.html
THE ELECTIONS ARE OVER, NOW WHAT?!
NORTH STAR CHAPTER CONSERVATION SUMMIT - Thursday, Dec. 2nd
The hard work of hundreds of new and veteran volunteers leading up to the election created enormous momentum for change. We must channel that energy into our ongoing conservation work. Meet at Bethany Lutheran Church (2511 E. Franklin Ave. in Minneapolis, just 1 block east of the North Star Chapter Office) on Thursday, Dec. 2nd, from 6:00pm 7:30pm, to learn about the many opportunities the North Star Chapter has for making positive change to protect the environment and human health, in addition to the exciting outdoor activities we offer. There is a lot of work to be done to protect the environment now that the election is over, and we need your help. There are several ways to be involved, for any level of interest and availability. Join us to learn about the magnificent volunteer work in our Chapter, and to share your hopes, ideas, and enthusiasm
SOLSTICE PARTY!- Friday Dec. 17th
Please mark your calendars. The Sierra Club North Star Chapter will host its annual Solstice Party on December 17th, 6:30pm - 9:00pm at the Izaak Walton League Lodge of America Breckenridge Chapter Clubhouse (8816 West River Road, Brooklyn Center). This is your chance to share stories and good food with dozens of other Sierra Club volunteers to recognize all of your great contributions! It's a potluck, so bring a dish to share — we'll provide the drinks. We'll celebrate our heroes and heroines within our midst with volunteer awards for the great work folks have done throughout the year.
