October 8: Protect America's Refuge
The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska is one of America’s most wild and unspoiled places, and the overwhelming majority of Americans want the Refuge to stay that way. Now, after decades of being told “no,” oil companies and their allies in Congress have buried their plans to drill the Arctic Refuge in the Federal Budget. This final decision to start drilling is coming this fall, and it's up to volunteers to stop it!
Sierra Club members and our allies will go door-to-door in our neighborhoods on Saturday, September 24, to urge our neighbors to take action: call your Representative and Senator!
When: Saturday, October 8, 10AM
Where: Inner Park in Circle Pines, plus knock-your-blocks all over
Minnesota ()
How: We'll start with a training with all
the information you'll need to confidently talk to folks in your community about
protecting the Arctic Refuge. Then we'll talk to neighbors door-to-door, and
give them a flyer with the phone number to call their Representative. At 2PM,
we'll get back together for a barbecue.
Another way: If you cannot join us on the 8th, can you talk to your own neighbors? We'll send you materials and a script to use. !
