Stop New Coal in 2008
Three main ways you can help stop the Big Stone II coal-fired power plant this January:
- Raise a crowd and a ruckus!
- Attend the January 10th Public Hearing in Ortonville, MN at 5:00pm — plan to attend, or both attend and testify. Be part of the exciting press conference outside the hearing! At the Ortonville Community Center, 200 Monroe Avenue
- Attend the January 23rd Evidentiary Hearing in St. Paul. Bring a friend or a group! We should pack the house to send a message to the PUC and the media!
- Calling clean energy heroes! Free Pizza!
Join us for a phone action night to call Sierra Club members and invite them to the public hearings on Big Stone II:- Thursday, January 3rd 6:30pm

Big Stone II Coal Plant Expansion
The proposed Big Stone II Coal Plant is an enormous expansion of an existing coal plant just over the border in South Dakota that will provide Minnesota with more power. Expanding this coal plant will mean less resources for clean, renewable energy, and that more Minnesota dollars will go to dirty, polluting coal for years to come. » More on the Big Stone II coal plant expansion proposal…
