Allow ATVs on the North Shore State Trail?
The DNR is considering opening the North Shore State Trail, which runs from Duluth to Grand Marais, to ATVs. This trail is for hikers during summer, and snowmobiles in winter.
Sierra Club volunteers are documenting illegal damage on the trail to show that even a few outlaws can cause pollution and permanent ruts. Making the trail an official ATV route will cause permanent damage, including to trout streams.
