Picket Lake

Picket Lake Roadless Area seems like the Northwoods that the Forest Service forgot. Logging roads that once went there have disappeared, except a few spurs where ATVs have ventured, unauthhorized. The landing at the canoe entrance is slowly eroding. A hunting tent on the entrance road sat all winter unnoticed. This is a wild forest.

But it's on the map as a forest ripe for harvest. In this map, red indicates US Forest Service plans to log around 2/3 of the trees, disqualifying the area from future consideration as wilderness.

We know of four access routes, but the main one is the canoe entrance at the east end of Picket Lake.
