Minnesota's State Forests need our care
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is the largest forest landowner in the state. 27% of the woods in Minnesota are in state forests and other state land, twice the amount in our national or county forests. The Department of Natural Resources logs over 70,000 acres every year, and until now no one's been watching.
Sierra Club has initiated a new campaign to identify special places on our state forests and protect them under state law.
- We can protect the last special places as wilderness, solitude areas, or natural areas.
- We can restore our natural heritage and create local jobs.
- We can keep special recreation places for everyone.
