Anoka County is bounded by Isanti County on the north, Chisago and Washington Counties on the east, Ramsey and Hennepin Counties on the south, and Hennepin and Sherburne Counties on the west. It lies on both sides of the Rum River.
Anoka County encompasses a 424 square mile area and includes 19 municipalities, 3 townships, as well as 18 parks. It is the 4th largest county in the state of Minnesota by population. From 1990 to 2000, Anoka County grew almost twice as fast as the rest of Minnesota. The countyís population increased by over 20% from 244,000 to 298,000 residents and the number of households increased by almost 30%.
