Overview
The 12th Annual Tour de Sprawl will explore first hand the growth and development of Dakota County (hence the new name!). Expect good food, great speakers, mechanical support, post-ride music, and lots of fun! Highlights include:
- We're back to a round-trip “loop ride!” The bicycle tour will end right back where it starts, at Lebanon Hills Park.
- Sustainable visitors center at Lebanon Hills Regional Park
- Pleasant downtown Rosemount
- Innovative residential developments in Apple Valley and Lakeville
- Farmland and natural areas of Dakota County
Distance, Pace, and Duration
This is a very leisurely paced ride of about 24 miles. Everyone will convene at a few rest stops along the way to enjoy views and hear from expert guest speakers about current land use issues. The ride will last around four to five hours.

Join the Club! You do not need to be a member of the Sierra Club to ride in the Tour de Sprawl. However, if you're not already a member, we hope you will consider joining America's largest, oldest, and most respected environmental organization. Join the Sierra Club!

From the North/South/West:
- I-35E to Cliff Road in Eagan
- East on Cliff Road 3.6 miles to Lebanon Hills Visitor Center
From the East:
- County Road 42 to State Hwy 3 in Rosemount
- North on Hwy 3 to Cliff Road
- West on Cliff Road to Lebanon Hills Visitor Center
What to bring
- A well fitting bicycle helmet is required.
- At least one water bottle is strongly recommended.
- The entire route will be on pavement so any type of bicycle will do.

Zero Waste
With your help, the 2007 Tour de Sprawl will be a Zero Waste Event! (pdf, 89k)
- Only materials that can be recycled or composted are used at this event.
- All waste is separated.
- All bottles, cans and paper are recycled.
- All food scraps and non-recyclable paper are composted.
