Overview
Explore first hand the history, bike trails and new developments of Chaska, MN, named "8th Best Small Town in America" by Money Magazine. Expect good food, great speakers, mechanical support, post-ride music and lots of fun!

Route
A loop beginning and ending at beautiful Fireman's Park in downtown Chaska. Note: Route subject to change.

Distance, Pace, and Duration
This is a very leisurely paced ride of about 20 miles. Everyone will convene at a few rest stops along the way to enjoy views and hear from expert guest speakers about current land use issues. The ride will last around four to five hours.
The Tour runs rain or shine. All fees are non-refundable and confirmations will not be sent.

Note: You do not need to be a member of the Sierra Club to ride in the Tour de Sprawl.
Directions to Start/End Point
NOTE: Google maps does not yet include new Highway 212 (opened July, 2008).
From the Twin Cities:
- Take Highway 212 west from I- 494, Highway 62 or Highway 169.
- Exit Highway 41/Chestnut St. in Chaska. Go left (south) on 41.
- Turn right at Chaska Blvd. (old Highway 212/West 6th St.)
- Turn right into Fireman's Park.
What to bring
- A well fitting bicycle helmet is required.
- At least one water bottle is strongly recommended.
- Your bike! The route will be on paved paths and streets, and may include some travel on crushed limestone bicycle trails.
Zero Waste
With your help, the 2008 Tour de Sprawl will be a Zero Waste Event! (pdf, 89k)
- Only materials that can be recycled or composted are used at this event.
- All waste is separated.
- All bottles, cans and paper are recycled.
- All food scraps and non-recyclable paper are composted.
