The Sierra Club is proud to announce these endorsements for Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board:

At-Large - Annie Young

District 3 - Scott Vreeland

District 4 - Tracy Nordstrom

District 5 - Jason Stone

"We enthusiastically endorse these candidates," said Jill Boogren, who chairs the Sierra Club's Minneapolis Political Committee. "We believe they will work hardest to protect and maintain the quality of our river, lakes, parks, trails and urban forest, while being responsive to those who enjoy our incredible park resources and who celebrate our city's fine natural heritage."

Candidates were selected by two Sierra Club committees: the Minneapolis Political Committee and the Executive Committee, the elected governing body of the Sierra Club North Star Chapter which has final authority over endorsement decisions.

The Sierra Club has also endorsed R.T. Rybak for Mayor and the following City Council candidates: Paul Ostrow for Ward 1; Diane Hofstede for Ward 3; Don Samuels for Ward 5; Jeff Hayden for Ward 8; and Scott Benson for Ward 11.

The Sierra Club is still considering endorsements for additional Park Board and City Council seats.

The Sierra Club is a non-partisan conservation organization with 20,000 members in Minnesota.
