Transportation
Minneapolis LRT at the VA Medical Center
Each day, millions of Americans have no choice but to hop in their car to get to work, school, or any important destination. Twin Cities suburban mothers and fathers spend 17 full days a year behind the wheel - more than the average parent spends dressing, bathing and feeding a child. (Source: Surface Transportation Policy Project)
Over the next 30 years, the Twin Cities will grow by nearly one million new residents (Source: Metropolitan Council). Our communities need safe, reliable transportation choices. We pursue a broad range of transportation choices to address present and future challenges:
- Twin Cities Transitways
- Bike paths and bike lanes
- Pedestrian friendly communities
- Expanded bus service throughout metro and greater Minnesota
2008 Bi-partisan Transit Victory for Minnesota
Six years of our sustained effort has finally paid off! The landmark Transportation Bill passed on Monday, February 25, 2008 secures a dedicated funding source for a transit system that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, combat congestion and help Minnesotans reach their destinations safely and conveniently.
